Multnomah Lives On - Vertical

Every place I visit, I use the opportunity to learn the history of the area. During my research on Multnomah Falls, I discovered that the Multnomah Tribe (an extension of the Chipanook Tribe) once in habited the nearby area. They were very well known as they were the epicenter of the trading in the area. Sadly the tribe that inhabited the nearby area experienced a devastating epidemic of malaria with only a few remaining survivors that eventually left the area. Although the tribe was no longer, the prominent name of Multnomah lives on in the names of the county, waterfall, neighborhood of Portland, businesses, streets, and several organizations in Oregon.
